Sensitivity and gastric sleeve.

Recommended Posts

So it's been 18 months since my gastric sleeve. and I've lost close to 100 lbs. Although I'm feeling great, and seems like my body is finally adapting to the change, I still feel very emotional ALL THE TIME. There are things that wouldn't bother me before, and that I would even ignore of think weren't of importance. Now, if I'm watching TV and a sad puppy commercial I'm all tears. Anyone else experiencing the same??

If food was your go to to deal with stress, boredom, sadness, anger etc.... You need new coping mechanisms. This may be difficult to figure out on your own if food is the only thing you know. Therapy can be a great help and will help you to not fall back into old habits.

Congrats!! 100 lbs is an awesome accomplishment!

I've heard that hormones are stored in fat, too, and that they're released when you lose weight. That could have something to do with it too.

My doctor assured me it was hormones. It was very similar to the mood swings I had when I was pregnant and at 9.5 months post op I still get weepy super easily.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
