EW11211 42 Posted August 10, 2017 Congratulations, did they approve it in full? Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app
KikiSue🙋🏼 22 Posted August 10, 2017 Yes, they're paying 90% and I pay 10%. I'm having it done at U of Chicago and it's a $10,000 (all-inclusive) procedure. My Doctor said there won't be any additional fees for anesthesia or meds or anything else as long as there aren't any complications.
EW11211 42 Posted August 10, 2017 Good for u, start shopping for a shake you like, primary food. I like nutri supreme whey Protein, Stevia and plant fusion ready to drinkSent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app
KikiSue🙋🏼 22 Posted August 10, 2017 EW, where do you buy that from?? I'm going to try the Premier Protein ones from Sam's Club and see how they taste. I have a friend that swears by those. Any other helpful foods or tips? I did buy some 3-compartment meal trays to pre-package my weighed meals OneRx I'm on regular foods. That way on Sunday's I can weigh everything out and count my calories. EW11211 42 Posted August 10, 2017 I bought them by Amazon. I froze chicken broth in disposable cups, and use a scale to weigh the food. That's when you start mushy solids.Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app
EW11211 42 Posted August 10, 2017 I like Vitamin Water zero for liquids. I mix cinamon and splenda with Greek yogurt plain.Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app 1 zallykatz16 reacted to this
KikiSue🙋🏼 22 Posted August 10, 2017 I've tried the Vitamin Water Zero and didn't like it very much. I love plain ole water or even unsweetened iced tea. I could probably do the Greek yogurt with cinnamon. Do you set a limit to carbs every day? shedo82773 1,236 Posted August 12, 2017 CONGRATS!!! Hang on you are going for one heck of a journey!!! One thing I would suggest don't buy a lot of any thing Protein Drinks because most people's taste change. I would really hate to know how much $$I spent on Protein drinks I'm sure it was lots of dollars!! Luckily, my nephew is into healthy drinking and eating!! At least it wasn't wasted!! Again YAY YAY!!! 2 KikiSue🙋🏼 and SpindleCity reacted to this
KikiSue🙋🏼 22 Posted August 13, 2017 Thanks Shedo! And good to know! I wish that I would've read this before I went shopping yesterday, lol. I went to Sam's Club and bought the chocolate and vanilla Protein drinks there. They're 30 grams of protein. Do any of you have any info like paperwork that describes examples of meal ideas for the first few days and beyond? I would love to see it if possible. I can give you my email or you can text it to me if that's easier. Kiki Endoscopic Sleeve GastroplastyProcedure day: 9/8/
shedo82773 1,236 Posted August 13, 2017 I have a quick ? Is this procedure new? I haven't heard about it. Thanks in advance.
KikiSue🙋🏼 22 Posted August 13, 2017 Shedo - Yes it is fairly new. And only being done in a handful of clinics in our country. It is being taught to physicians more and more, so it will become as common as the other gastric surgeries very quickly. What really entices me is that it is outpatient, only takes about 45 mins, less invasive and you don't have to go through the multiple pre-op specialist appointments like you do with the more invasive gastric surgeries. shedo82773 1,236 Posted August 13, 2017 Thank you! My daughter is overweight and has a full-time job and 4 kids. This might be just what she needs. Please keep me posted on this. Also, did you mean the US? Thank you again.
KikiSue🙋🏼 22 Posted August 13, 2017 Yes, it is non-surgical and all done through your mouth, like when you go in for an upper GI. I'm having it on a Friday and hope to be working on Monday. Yes, I'm in the US. I'm having mine done in Chicago. Kiki Endoscopic Sleeve GastroplastyProcedure day: 9/8/
Belle3endosleeve 19 Posted August 17, 2017 This is very exciting to have discovered a thread of others having done this procedure or those that have it scheduled. So hard to find info about this online!! I have mine scheduled for September 28 2pm at UCI (university of California Irvine). I have three kids and have struggled to drop the baby weight after the third baby. My BMI is about 31. I've tried every thing to lose the weight and it just keeps coming back. I'm so excited for this procedure AND nervous and would love to connect via email or better yet on the phone with anyone that has already had the procedure done and would be willing to talk!
