kidchick 43 Posted October 18, 2017 So tomorrow is the day for me! I'm on liquids today for pre-op. These can include Protein Drinks and creamed soups! I can drink coffee even. Tomorrow morning after bathing in the special soap for the 2nd time I can have coffee or juice or Bone Broth on the way to the hospital if I want and then I'll be joining you recent surgery peeps in the post-op diet. I'm nervous, feel like I should clean and get things in order today, but mostly confident in my decision. I haven't told two of my three kids yet so that's weighing on me but I think it's best for now. I am so excited to feel good again, get some of this weight off to help with back, hip and overall joint pain, and to have the energy and desire to hang with the grand kids more....these are the things that give me confidence in this decision. I appreciate the most recent posts from those of you that just had surgery this week and your encouragement. Keep it coming....I still have 20.5 hours to go until I leave for the hospital :)..... 3 RobinJoy, hothappyheidi and Keenikwe reacted to this

I am having a rough time with the two week liquid diet. I have seen people post that the hungry feeling stopped after the third day but not here. I am starving but I keep trying to think of the end game. How is your liquid diet going?? 1 Sherry Rice reacted to this

boliramirez 44 Posted October 19, 2017 I am 36 hours post surgery, I did 8 days of liquid diet and lost almost 10 pounds.... my doctor visited today and he said it was a text book procedure, my liver was not swollen due to the liquid diet and the bleeding was minimal... I have 4 incisions and a Drain that will be removed in a week.... I just experienced minor pain yesterday... had a great night of sleep in my ultra nice private room... Tomorrow I will have a contrast leak test and if everything is OK, I will go home..... I hope you guys are doing great too !! 2 RobinJoy and Terry B reacted to this

GlowingGal 61 Posted October 19, 2017 Yikes! I just got home from my pre-op appointment with my surgeon. He is now concerned with two prior incisions (bikini cuts) and the scar tissue it may have caused. He thinks he might need to make an open cut instead of laparoscopic, and a possibility of the sleeve instead of gastric bypass. I figured a larger incision and sleeve is better than an almost 50 BMI and other comorbidities. I was nervous before the appointment, but now I'm a little freaked out. Whose got some positive words for me?
Henning 46 Posted October 20, 2017 My BMI was 52. I post 28 lbs on liquid diet and 4 lbs at Hospital after surgery. I can u derstand the worries you may have with open insidious night but it’s only temporary while the weight is permanent unless you make the choice

Whose got some positive words for me?Hi there. I had my preop appt with my surgeon yesterday he said the same thing except mine was because of a c section scar . He said most are fine be he did ask me what would I rather do a sleeve instead or be opened up in the case of this happening. I chose sleeve because I would rather not run the risk of being opened up and getting an infection sending positive vibes ! This is my Journey to Joy ! 1 GlowingGal reacted to this

So did the doc say he could go laparoscopic with the scar tissue and without making an open cut? Of course, he won't know anything until he goes in, but I wonder how scar tissue around my bikini area affects the surgery. I should have asked him. Ugh, questions always pop up after the fact. Thanks for your input.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using BariatricPal mobile app 1 RobinJoy reacted to this
