Soft foods stage.... recipe ideas?

Any suggestions on how to cook or season lean Proteins that doesn't end up with them being super dry and boring?

I mean, I'm super excited to finish the pureed stage in a week but the thought of eating poached or baked lean proteins sound dry and flavorless.

Hi Shantel. First, congrats on your weight loss surgery . I'm just dipping my toes in the Water of lean meats too. I found a cream based Soup (i.e.cream of mushroom, chicken, etc) is a nice when you add chicken thats been baked with water or barbeque sauce. For example, my husband makes the most delicious baked chicken breasts. Place one or more skinless chicken breasts in a glass or metal baking pan. Cover the raw chicken with 1/2 cup of BBQ Sauce and a 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce. Cover pan with foil and bake for 1.5 hours at 350°F.
After the chicken cools, I cut it into thin strips and store it in the cooked sauce.
I take 1/4 cup of the soup (which I've prepared with milk for more protein) and add a few small pieces of chicken, some canned green Beans, and sometimes part of a plain baked potato. Use whatever is the right texture for your stage of recovery. This little recipe has saved me! I get texture from the chicken (chew, chew, chew) and a welcome bit of flavor from the green beans. The potato actually soothes my stomach. Hope this idea can help you.

You can season and bake/saute/broil/steam without drying it out.

Do not overcook.

Cook by temperature and allow for rest time.

Try replacing chicken breast with thigh if you like dark meat.

Omg that sounds delish! I honestly can't wait to have some texture and fruits and veggies back in my life!!! I did scour the grocery store and found 98%fat free cream of mushroom soup and some other low fat or fat free low sugar sauces to cook with.

And that's where the problem is... i need to learn how to not overcook lean Protein since normally I'd cook them with high fat sauces.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
