Buh bye band, hello SIPS!

Arrived at hospital at 5am, surgery started at 715a... was up and walking by noon. Had my cat scan and swallow test by 3, discharged by 530p and home a little after 6....

I'm super nauseated and sore but dealing ok. Now laying down in bed. I don't like this weird pulling feeling in my tummy and I am having a heck of a time completely emptying my bladder (thanks to the catheter) but I'm managing.

BAND out SIPS DS in, one operation. I'm ready to get this journey on the road! Woohoo!!

So Lucky!! I am having my band out and then the sleeve, but my dr wants to do it in two surgeries. He said he feels its better that way. Personally Id rather they do it like yours, all at once!! Good luck and congrats to you!!

Thank you [emoji4][emoji173]️. I knew there was always a possibility it might come out as two surgeries. It all depended on how much scar tissue there was.

Good luck to you [emoji4]

I said good-bye to my band two months ago today! Wow, I just looked at the calendar and realized that. Anyway, congratulations! The first two weeks are rough, but I promise you'll feel better soon. Make sure you take frequent sips of Water all day long so you don't get dehydrated. I'm excited for you.

Thanks, today was rough for sure. I so hope tomorrow is better. I've been working on my liquids no where near where I need to be but I'm working on it. Every sip just hurts. Almost like hunger pains or gas pains I can't even tell anymore. I did manage to walk 4000 steps today too. Please let this gas and nausea go away!!!

It does hurt to drink Water for the first few weeks. No way around it. I don't get that stabbing pain any longer at two months out, so rest assured it will go away. I'm still working on getting my required amount of water intake, however. I still feel nauseated periodically after eating. I'm not sure if this goes away entirely, but it's not the constant queasiness I had post-op. Two weeks from now, you're going to feel so much better. I didn't get the horrible gas post-op. Sorry you're experiencing that. Sounds like you're walking a ton to address that issue, and that's good. The stage you're at is so not fun, but by week three the sun comes out again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
