IRISHGEMINI18 1 Posted August 8, 2017 Hi all, I have a surgery date scheduled for September 6 and was curious if anyone has tips to prevent loose skin. Is there anything I could start doing now to possibly prevent or minimize it after surgery?? A particular helpful cream? Massage? Dry brushing? Any tips would be great. Thanks! Introversion 1,876 Posted August 8, 2017 (edited) Whether or not you'll have loose skin is entirely dependent on your starting weight, age, genetics, and smoking status. Depending on how long you were obese and how old you are, there may or may not be anything you can do to prevent loose skin. Generally, younger peoples' skin tends to 'snap' back, but not always. Nonetheless, some people swear by liquid collagen, topical elastin, and Vitamin E creams during the active weight loss phase to prevent loose skin. Dashofpixiedust8 1,469 Posted August 8, 2017 Agree with @Introversion There are so many factors that go into whether you will have loose skin. Some people have very little and some people have a lot. There really isn't anything you can do to prevent it. 1 Introversion reacted to this
YeaMe 246 Posted August 8, 2017 I talked to my surgeon about it. He said if he knew of a prevention he would be a billionaire!!! There is nothing you can put on topically or take orally that will change the outcome. 1 LoraLazers reacted to this
