Jen93003 0 Posted October 12, 2007 I long to sleep laying down but when I try it, I feel very uncomfortable and I'm afraid of moving something around or smashing it for that matter. I was banded 10/9/07. Is anyone else sleeping in a recliner like me? LOL

ssfano 0 Posted October 12, 2007 Jen, I was banded on the 9th as well. I lay on either side and just make it work. While I have that same feeling as you that I will move it or something, I just lay as I please figuring it has to work itself out sooner or later. Lots of pillows help. Hope you get that good night's sleep soon.
Brewa2000 1 Posted October 12, 2007 I remember about 4-5 nights sleeping in my chair. I'd get up about every 2-3 hours and walk around. It should get better soon. My wife only slept in the chair one night after her surgery. Go figure... Bruce
Jen93003 0 Posted October 12, 2007 Thanks so much for each of you responding to me. I did an imaginary cartwheel! I'm so glad I found this web site, so I know I'm not alone in this. I even got a little teary, due to the lack of rest.
alandork 0 Posted October 12, 2007 yeah, i slept on my back for the first week post-op. like you, i was afraid i would mess something up, plus i wasn't that comfortable sleeping on my side. maybe this is why i hardly bruised from the surgery. i hope you heal quickly. make33 2 Posted October 14, 2007 Hi--I too was banded on the 9th!! I slept the first two nights on my back and was quite surprised that I didn't move!! On Thursday night, I moved to a little on my left side just for a few hours--and by Saturday night I was able to be more on my left side than my back. I get my staples out tomorrow morning (10/15)--did you have staples or steri-strips? I'm thinking that sleeping will definitely get easier once the staples are gone! This is so terrific--to find people that are going through the exact same thing at the exact same moment--WOW!:Banane10:
Dozy 3 Posted October 14, 2007 steri-strips for me. I'm day 4, but I can' sleep fully on either side... sort of half. I have to prop my head up more than normal. The 4-way pillow works well for me (you can find it here: Four-Way Pillow )
lachica39 0 Posted October 14, 2007 that covers sleeping, what about intimacy. how long do you wait, can your partner feel the port
Leena 108 Posted October 15, 2007 I was banded on 9/10 and just started sleeping in bed on 10/12. I can even sleep on my stomach. I'm so excited to be out of the recliner and get to cuddle again. YEAH! You'll make it to that point it just takes some time. If I were a back sleeper I could have been in bed a while ago, but I'm mostly a stomach/side sleeper so I needed to wait longer. In terms of intamacy there are a lot of different levels. About a week post-op we returned to some of those levels. A month out we returned to most activities, nothing crazy. -Leena
DebbieY. 0 Posted October 20, 2007 I was banded Sept. 28, 2007. I also found it much more comfortable sleeping in a recliner. I did it for like 5 days after my surgery. It was a lot easier getting up and down from the recliner than trying to get up and down from lying down on my bed.

fourshadow 0 Posted October 20, 2007 Yes, I'm there with you - Laying on my back is just uncomfortable. I havne't slept in my bed yet - and I don't have a recliner. The couch has been it - I wedge myself into a corner sitting up. I guess I can't complain much because I haven't had that much pain, but it's frustrating when you just want to get in that comfy bed!
