rblakely 4 Posted August 7, 2017 Finally had skin removal surgery on abdomen on July 24th. Had some complications. I am 17 months out from gastric bypass surgery. Kinda wish I hadn't had the skin removal surgery. Think about it long and hard unless it is unbearable.Sent from my SM-T377V using BariatricPal mobile app

hardwork&dedication 96 Posted August 7, 2017 Sorry it's been so tough. Can you tell us a little more about what happened? Is it complications or just the surgery itself is difficult?
rblakely 4 Posted August 7, 2017 This surgery initially was going to be an out-patient surgery until I insisted on staying overnight. Overnight turned into 4 nights in the hospital. Hemoglobin dropped to 5 which is dangerously low. Had to make the tough decision to get 2 pints of blood. I was in bad shape. I was told I lost an excessive amounts of blood during the 3 1/2 of surgery. Now I am recuperating, in some pain and making sure my 2 drains are emptied in a timely manner. Not sure when they are coming out. That is what I've been through.Sent from my SM-T377V using BariatricPal mobile app
hmills653 365 Posted August 7, 2017 Wow that is extremely low for a hemaglobin. It's good thing you stayed. They should've seen that there was a high estimated blood loss during surgery and kept you to monitor it anyway. They're always so wick to push people out of the hospital anymore, I blame the insurance companies. But it was for the best.
