MGCA 0 Posted August 7, 2017 3 days post op I'm having deep regrets. I feel awful. I have a headache that pounds and won't go away. Tylenol doesn't work and I can't take the narcotics because they make me feel worse. I'm hungry for food. I want something savory not sweet Protein Drinks and popsicles and Jello. Did I say my head hurts? And worst of all I feel like I didn't try hard enough to lose the weight naturally. Plus I'm not telling any friends or co workers. My privacy is important and I don't want people to constantly be watching what I put in my mouth and waiting for me to be skinny or worse fail. Those who are on the other side. Please tell me it gets better.
Meryline 546 Posted August 7, 2017 It really gets better. I was lucky to be in a program that has you eating normal food (with some restrictions) by day 4, so I never had to drink or puree food weeks on end. It will get better though. Try some broth, it might help with wanting some savory
MGCA 0 Posted August 7, 2017 Thank you. My doc allowed me to take an aleve so that's helped with the headache and I'm allowed to have tea this morning. Heavenly. I'm hoping to be off all pain meds today. Any suggestions for how to get your Protein in other than shakes? Have you tried Isopure drinks?
Meryline 546 Posted August 7, 2017 I'm not the right person to ask, as I have gotten all my Protein in with food after 4 weeks. I only had to drink one shake a day, and the rest was food until I manged to get enough with food. I haven't tried the Isopure drinks. Just make sure the carb content is very very low. FBetty 0 Posted August 7, 2017 Do not despair. I had my surgery 1/31/17 and often felt that I made a mistake. I had several complications after and that made me doubt my choice even more. The PA that I see says it is extremely common to have "buyers remorse". Almost 7 months down the road it creeps in my mind here and there but I know I have made it a long way (farther than I had EVER been able to make it on my own) and all in all I do not regret. My first 3-4 weeks included 3 Soups per day (all blend but the warm "savory" cut the sweet Protein that I had to intake. I often sought out other diet plans for gastric bypass because the plan through my doctor was ALL protein UNTIL I lost 70% of what my goal weight was to be. For my own sanity I started incorporating other things in earlier and that made it much easier. Hang in there and keep your mind off things. Bing watch a show and sip on hot tea and warm broth. It does get easier.
