Is there anyone in California who had or will have their surgery @ St. Bernardines Hospital in San Bernardino?

Im having my surgery on Aug 16th @ St Bernardines & I just wanted to know how I would be cared for both before & after my surgery? Especially since my DPA card stresses No Blood transfusions!

Hello jdsrra! My Dr is Fedorka with Fontana Kaiser! Who was yours?
I also posted this question on the san bernardino bariactric Facebook page & got a lot of real nice positive feedback.
So Im not to nervious just anxious to continue with my weight loss journey!
What's also encouraging is that after 40 some years my Hubby called me by the nick name he gave me when we first started dating!![emoji1]
I think he is just as excited as I am![emoji38]

I had dr Chin. He's really good at what he does but not at all personable. I've heard alot of positive about Fedorka!

Hi, I also have kaiser, and thought I will have my procedure done at St Bernardine, but during the options class they told us that they will start doing surgeries in Kaiser Ontario starting September, I will have my RNY done in Ontario on Sept 26th, my Surgeon is also Dr Chin, (glad to hear that he's really not that personable, I thought he doesnt like me - my pre op check up with him was kinda blah, I was his 2nd patient and was so excited, trying to make jokes, but he wasn't buying it, lol. Oh well, its nice to have found you guys here in the forum. Have a nice day you guys :)

Hello Sis! How did your surgery go?
I had my surgery 2 months ago now & doing ok with my eating & weight loss! St Bernardino Hospital was great. The nurses were very nice & attentive! They called me there star patient, I guess because I started my walking 5 hrs after my surgery. I did cause I thought it would help me go home sooner but Im glad I stayed the full 24 hrs. My starting weight was 210! Now Im down to 191, yeeeh!!!
However My weight loss sometimes yo-yo but I think it has to do with constipation! Ive increased my veggie intake & use Benefiber along with a good probiotic. So far, so good!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
