Hey just wanted to say I'm 28 I'm 5'2 and my highest weight was 334. I was scared for my life when my husband said I stopped breathing at night and lips were turning blue. I did a sleep study and had severe sleep apnea. It was really hard and emotional to realize how my health was starting to fall. I discussed with my husband about sleeve surgery and he supported me 100%. I told him I wanted to live longer and not be scared anymore. Day of surgery he and I were all over the place lol nerves. Emotions. Everything. We did have the talk about what I wanted if anything bad were to happen during surgery. It's very hard to talk about that stuff and also dealing with major surgery. But, in the end it's your life. Your choice. No one knows I had it done except for my mom, dad, sister, his cousin, and hubby. I'm now 1 week after surgery and I'm down to 296. You can do this if you want it! Just talk it over with your husband:)

We have been talking and we sat down with my grandma and talked more. He is understanding more why I want to do it. He isn't totally convinced yet but he said as long as it's something I want he will support me no matter what he thinks

I went through a similar experience. A lot of people don't understand the toll excess weight takes on you, both mentally and physically. I didn't have a good support system because nobody agreed with my decision to have surgery. The best approach is to try and explain why you decided on this journey. I found out that doing your research and educating those around you who don't understand, helps a lot. Not only does it give them the facts about bariatric surgery, but it shows them your commitment to a better and healthier lifestyle. This type of surgery isn't for other people, it is for you. It's so you can become healthier and feel better about yourself. I have learned that not everyone will agree with your choice, but those who love you will support you. Hope this helps. Good luck! xx

Getting the sleep study is the first step. I was able to get approved for the surgery with my insurance due to my sleep apnea. My husband was apprehensive and, by the grace of God, there were a LOT of steps for me to get to the point where my surgery is scheduled. With state assistant, they require you to attend 12 physical therapy appointments, 12 dietitian appointments, 12 appointments with a bariatric certified counselor and 6 appointments with my primary care doctor. It took a year to get to this point and my husband has been with me through it all. Asking for his help was the biggest thing for me and now, when he gets the munchies for our four kids on Friday nights, he'll pick up my favorite chocolate Protein Bar and that helps me.

It's fair to think that he's scared for you regarding surgery. My brother keeps telling me I could die during surgery and I just told him that I have a higher chance of dying from getting into a car crash while driving to work than I do dying from this procedure.

Yup, I did multiple sleep studies as well. I didn't think I'd like my Cpap but the technology has caught up and the sleep quality is well worth it. If you don't like things on your face like me, opt for the nasal pillows. It may be the beginning of your journey but at least you're taking the right steps to a healthier and longer life. My Sleeve is scheduled for Aug 29th and idk how other insurances are but I didn't have to complete the 6mo diet plan prior to getting approved due to my severe sleep apnea. Wishing you the best on your sleep study! xx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
