I'm sure you know the everyone is different! However, I never really had much pain as I did soreness. I use to get stiff ( still not as much now) if I lay or seat in the same position too long. When I was in the recovery at the hospital my pain was a 6 and it was down hill from then. When I was d/c my pain was like a 4 and by day 4 or 5 was I two and now 0. I am 10 days out and make over 10,000 steps twice this week and avg. about 6,000 the other days. I do everything lift, dance, walk, sometime forgetting I just had surgery. Give yourself time and do as much as you can. listen to your body but I believe the more you move the less you feel and the faster you heal!!! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

When does the pain start easy up?

It does...little by little, everyday gets better! The more active you are, the faster you will feel better. Just a short walk 3 times a day will help you tremendously! Then when you start soft foods, take a short walk after each "meal", that helps a ton too! Good luck!

I found at about 6 days, I'd turned a corner, but everybody heals so differently. It was like it went from pain to only hurt/discomfort. Every day got easier.

Once discomfort started I used a heating pad and never took my brace off. It gave me great relief and I felt 100 percent better about a week after surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
