Boomqueen 24 Posted August 3, 2017 Hi, I'm two days post op and my throat is killing me. I'm guessing it was the breathing tube. But I'm on tramadol so I don't get why it doesn't kill the pain? Anyone else have this?
Joann454 1,329 Posted August 3, 2017 I did and like you the pain meds didn't do much. Time will correct it. 1 Boomqueen reacted to this
kathlizzle 13 Posted August 5, 2017 Hopefully cool or warm liquids will help too. Just remember, this will pass a little more each day! Hang in there and keep us posted. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Boomqueen reacted to this
cherylcurry 3 Posted August 5, 2017 Mine hurt like heck too but each day it lessened. Went away completely after a week. Ice helped. Hang in there! 1 Boomqueen reacted to this
Results8567 34 Posted August 12, 2017 Unfortunately, this is a common side effect of intubation. Especially for us who are over weight. Its harder for the person with the laryngoscopy to be able to see our vocal cords due to us having short and very cubby neck lines. While we are very careful while manipulating the soft tissue of the throat its still not an easy process at times and soft tissue unfortunately can become damaged. Time is the only cure. It hurts so bad because its on the top layer of skin where most of the nerves are! As you can see in the image attached the blade has to go clear down into the vallecula. Which is right above where your vocal cords are! Lots of soft tissue that has never/rarely been touched by any metal! 3 ClareBear1, Joann454 and Seerae3 reacted to this

sissy57 2 Posted August 15, 2017 I was hoarse for about s week after my surgery. On morphine pump at hospital and Tylenol with codine. Took that for about 4 days. Throat didn't hurt though, that I noticed.
