Hey guys. I have surgery in 7 days time. I'm obviously on the pre op diet stage...however last night I had a binge. Eating lots of things I shouldn't have. Will it matter? Will it effect surgery? I'm worried my liver will have gotten bigger again as I'm supposed to be shrinking it. Any advice would be wonderful. Thankyou...and I hope any fellow sleeved are doing well post surgery. X

call me mean if you like but if you want someone to tell you its okay, sorry up front.

This is the time you need to reflect and learn from past bad habits, and if you can not do that then perhaps you have not made the right decision for your future. Can you get away with it this time without negative consequences, sure, but at what point will you become accountable for what you do and stop doing it? That is the question you really have to ask yourself. The pre-phase is not just to shrink your liver it is also to get you to change your bad habits and get you to take charge of your health. I am sorry to be blunt but if you are seriously going to do this and do it right the time for excuses and regret are over. If you do this after surgery you can seriously impact your health and possibly even endanger your life, that is a very real fact. If you are not going to become 100% committed to this life change do not endanger yourself. If this is what you want you have to take charge and change your whole lifestyle, if you are not ready to make that step, then maybe you are not truly ready for this.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
