Help getting the fluids down?!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I am 2 weeks post sleeve surgery and really struggling to get the Water down! Has anyone any advice?! I am trying to sip little bits but just struggling as it makes me feel really nauseous when it hits my stomach & gives me pains.

Other than that I am doing ok (I think?!). Not getting as much Protein as I think I am supposed to be but trying hard!

Lots of love to everyone xxx

Have you tried different temperatures to? Some people react to cold and room temp differently. Some people prefer super cold and some people prefer room temp. Also, have you tried adding crystal light to your Water? Maybe try Vitamin water zero?

I'm in my 3rd week post op and my doctor has me on a liquid diet the first month. I mentioned at my one week appointment that I felt like I wasn't getting enough Protein and he said don't worry about the protein for right now, just focus on staying HYDRATED. The last thing you want to do is end up going to the hospital because of dehydration.

Every couple of minutes, take a small sip. I've been drinking water with strawberry lemonade crystal light drops in it, vitamin water zero and diet snapple. I put it in a small 8 oz water bottle because it's easier to drink out of and I don't feel overwhelmed or psych myself out that I won't be able to finish the bottle it initially comes in.

Hope this helps you!

The last part about the 8oz Water bottle so that you don't feel overwhelmed. I never thought about that, but that is totally how I feel. Thank you for sharing[emoji16]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
