6 weeks out...this normal?

Recommended Posts

Today was 6 weeks since I had surgery. I have so many questions!

does anyone have trouble drinking Water? It hurts so much every time I drink and there's no way I'm getting enough water. Any solutions?

what is something yummy I can drink besides water and G2?

I feel sick A LOT. Even when I don't eat I feel sick. Or mostly when I take one (very little) bite of something (on the diet) and swollow my stomach hurts often and I stop eating....is this normal?

This is not normal. It should never hurt to sip water!!! You need to pay your surgeon a visit and let them know what's going on. Do not let them tell you this is "ok" or "normal".

Definitely not normal. As the others said see your document asap. Try Vitamin Water zero. They have different flavors that you might enjoy. Good luck.

I still have problems with water 4 weeks out. I was told that I needed to sip water a little at a time our of a shot glass or tea cup by my dietician.

I'm only 3 weeks out and it doesn't hurt to drink anymore. I'd definitely talk to your doc.

I found drink that nice at Costco.. It's like the Vitamin Water zero but is called Vitarain zero. Not as strong to me as the Vitamin Water. But you might like the VW.

You really shouldn't drink the G2 since it still has sugar. My doc allows the Power aid zero but not G2. The sugar might be making your tummy hurt.

Hope it gets better for you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
