Me too! I’ve been reassured by the family and 2 friends I’ve told that it will be fine. Still not sure if I plan to tell anyone who asks yet. Do you happen to be 30 (from your ID)? I’m 30 too!

If you would like we can keep in touch! I didn't have a last meal (I should have). Well like a good friend told me, I have had many good meals, but I think one last one is ok. Well I am 4 days post op. On surgery day I was like 241, yesterday I was 232, I just weighed myself 15 min ago and the scale was wavering between 229 and 230. I haven't seen 229 since 2016, when I was working out hard core. The first 2 days after surgery were horrible for me, I had to go back to the hospital for dehydration. Just be prepared for the worst feeling ever of nausea, its like being pregnant but worst for a good 24_36 hours. My kids and husband were all freaking out. I was just upset with myself because I was following the doctors diet to a T.. except I wasn't able to keep anything down. I wish you lots of luck, positive thoughts and my prayers! The key to the gas pain is Maalox or Miralax, gas strips didn't help me. The maalox helps with the bm too!

Hi, all- I am one week out today from my sleeve last week and just want to send my support to everyone who is still waiting. I am feeling terrific today- really good. The first few days were hard (I had lots of nausea) but quickly got much much better. I was pretty terrified of this surgery before I had it, but now I am already grateful. Down 24 pounds since preop diet, which I think is pretty great! Also just feeling content with the decision now that it’s done- I keep feeling surprised that I still feel like myself- I don’t know what I thought was going to happen, but I’m so relieved that I feel pretty normal by this point, and the only difference is being a tiny bit sore and having to take a half an hour to eat a Greek yogurt [emoji4] Getting all liquids and Protein in, and feeling so much better. Just wanted to send reassurance to any people who like me were absolutely scared out of their minds. All will be well!

Surgery Date: January 8, 2018
Sleeve Gastrectomy

Thank you so much for your post! I am having surgery tomorrow morning at 7:30. I can’t believe it’s already here! A little nervous but your update gives me hope!!

I had my sleeve done on Thursday, Jan. 11th. Today is the first day I am feeling much better and starting to get hungry a bit and am tempted to eat something real. Still some pain but definitely better overall. I would love to join a group of all of us together that are about in the same part of the process.

I wanted to chime in. My surgery was on the 9th and at almost a week out I am feeling pretty good. I lucked out by not having any nausea, the worst part for me is the pain from the incision. I am managing with just ibuprofen and concentrating on Protein and liquids. The weight is coming off and the energy is coming back. Good luck everyone it just gets better!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
