Any January 2018 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled first thing Monday morning 1/8/18. I have been nervous for so long that I now want to hurry and get it over with. I want to be on the road to recovery. What is everyone bringing to the hospital to make them more comfortable?

How’d you make out? I was also 1/4. I’m doing pretty good.

I’m doing okay. Pretty tired still and it kind of hurts when I drink anything, but today seems a little better than yesterday was. How are you doing?

Congrats! Sorry about the funny looking gall bladder, but I am really curious - why the last minute switch to RNY? (sleeve 2 weeks away for me so curious!)

I had an episode last summer with intense discomfort. Everyone thought it was gall bladder, but both the ultrasound and the HIDA scan showed nothing wrong. My PCP put me on Nexium as a precaution in case I had reflux. We don't really know if I have reflux or not, but the surgeon decided not to take the risk in case I do.

I'm actually really happy she took it out. Saves me a surgery down the road.

Your own pillow, t-shirts and track suit bottoms, non slip socks, sleep mask, ear plugs

I’d add sugar free throat lozenges. My throat was very sore and my mouth very dry.

I would recommend trying a few different clear Protein Drinks before your surgery. I’m sorry to say that I find them to be soapy and very hard to drink. I threw out the Premier Protein clear one. I’m struggling through the Isopure. I only have to drink Clear Liquids the day before, the day of, and the day after my surgery. But try and find one you can tolerate.

Thanks for the advice I remember when I had my lap band I didn't like any then as well. Which ones do people like?

I'd like some advice...

My doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet. But I'm on a clear liquid 2 weeks following then liquid for 4 weeks. Total of 6 weeks liquid. When on Clear Liquids what did you all drink? Any suggestions for Proteins and clear liquids. I think I need to order some things. I'm pretty much going to be on my own. Any suggestions appreciated. Also, Vitamins? which ones did you all like?

Try these! They are very good & Orgain comes in chocolate vanilla & Peanut Butter maybe more. They are very good & healthier than most other shakes such as premier. Also a nice change when you get bored with other flavors. 1 scoop of each is 30 grams of Protein & about 200 calories with 30 calorie a serving almond milk. I add ice or Water to make them 10-12 ounces.

I could not stomach any Protein Drinks when I had my band put in. Bleck. I thought I was doomed but then I tried the Premier Protein in chocolate and caramel and I like them a lot. They just have to be very cold. And the premier Protein clear I do like, especially over ice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
