Geri Marie 235 Posted August 1, 2017 (edited) Hey everyone. My name is Geri. I currently have the Lap Band and have struggled with it for 7 years. On August 16th I get it removed. On November 13th i will undergo Gastric Sleeve. I am nervous excited i have to say. I am so worried about leakage? My dr says 1 in 100 people get it, and i just pray to the good Lord I wont be one of them. I am just starting the insurance journey as well so any advise would be great! I have Aetna and it seems pretty straight forward. Anyway, thanks for listening...ttys! SIPS in Seattle 345 Posted August 1, 2017 I have Aetna POS II, scheduled for band to SIPS DS on august 8th. Hopefully a one and done surgery. For my band I had to do two appeals with Aetna but my revision approval was super fast and easy. I did three months of visits with my surgeon, 3 nut appointments and a whole host of tests per my surgeon's requirements. August 8th can't get here fast enough!! Polly Pocket 83 Posted August 1, 2017 Geri, your story is nearly my story. My band was removed yesterday. I'm working on insurance requirements. Revision will hopefully be scheduled for November. I haven't committed to sleeve or bypass, but leaning towards the sleeve.Sent from my SM-T560NU using BariatricPal mobile app
Geri Marie 235 Posted August 1, 2017 Polly, Great maybe we can be each other's support! I'm pretty nervous about the whole process but after reading a ton of posts and doing some research I have decided its still a go for the sleeve. Bi pass seems to have too many requirements. How did your removal go? Does it hurt as much as when it when in? 1 Polly Pocket reacted to this
Polly Pocket 83 Posted August 1, 2017 Hi Geri. Removal went fast. I was waking up in recovery after an hour. I feel a bit sore, but it's not too bad. I was sent home with a prescription pain med but haven't really needed it. I'm home from work today but plan on going tomorrow afternoon. I'm so happy to have that thing out. I was having port pain and it just wasn't working for me at all. I had it put in 5 years ago. This is SO MUCH EASIER than when it went in.Sent from my SM-T560NU using BariatricPal mobile app
