Cubana86 3 Posted July 31, 2017 I had the bypass surgery done June 28th. About a week after I started having issues with drinking fluids. Whenever I drink and it hits my stomach I'm in severe pain. No matter the amount or temperature it hurts so bad. I have gone to my doctors office 3 times already to get iv fluids because I have been so dehydrated. The second trip I went straight to the er from the doctors office. Anyone else have this happen to them and what did your doctor say? My doctor scheduled me for an endoscopy for this Friday. I was supposed to have been back to work 2 weeks ago and just haven't been able to stay because of the pain. 1 Angie's_Ocean reacted to this

Cubana86 3 Posted July 31, 2017 That's exactly how I feel. It hurts so bad makes me not want to drink anything else. I'm in so much pain right now. Has your doctor told you anything? 1 Lmichelle310 reacted to this
Lmichelle310 11 Posted July 31, 2017 My doctor just told me to walk walk walk, which does help a tiny bit but I try to lay back but that feeling last for hours before it goes away 1 ZumbaMami reacted to this
Cubana86 3 Posted July 31, 2017 I have a really good doctor hopefully he can figure out what's wrong. He told me to try propel Water and that has gone down easier not as much pain as regular water. He said he had a patient just like me about a year ago and she drank propel and was able to get her fluids in. Try that and let me know how it helps u

CINNAMON 2015 43 Posted August 1, 2017 Yes, it's uncomfortable, but it does ease up. My problem was constant vomiting for 3 months. Dr. finally did Endo & loosened the pouch a bit and have had no problems since.
Cubana86 3 Posted August 1, 2017 Hopefully that's what they do Friday.
MK94 1 Posted August 1, 2017 This happened to me initially. I hate to say this, but you really have to push through. Assuming nothing's actually wrong with you, it will go away. Keep trying different temps and different flavors. You've got this!
ZumbaMami 12 Posted August 1, 2017 Try Powerade Zero too. I also developed trouble getting plain Water to stay down. I read an article by a surgeon who said to blow all air out through your nose before swallowing anything to limit the amount of air going down. It has been working for me although I still struggle to get all my water in. Hope you get some relief.
