Missy161 395 Posted July 29, 2017 I get a single large hiccup when I drink and sometimes when I eator sometimes just out of the blue. I sound like a seal- any thoughts? I used to have that a long time ago and then not again until after my surgery. I did have a haiatal hernia fixed at the time of surgery so I'm wondering if it's from that. Going to ask my surgeon at my next follow up but that's not for awhile.Mich WHw 223, SW 217 CW 196.6 GW

Missy161 395 Posted July 30, 2017 Tonight I ate yogurt around 5:15- drank Water about a half hour later and then another 45 min after that we were walking around Walmart and got the hiccup so there's no reason I should have . So weird!Mich WHw 223, SW 217 CW 196.6 GW
Shanrom 13 Posted July 31, 2017 I have the same issue.. so strange. Not sure what causes it but it's been happening to me since my surgery in November every time I eat or drink. I also had Hiatal Hernia surgery, if you find out anything let me know.
Missy161 395 Posted August 1, 2017 Definitely will! Mine happens at random times not just when I'm eating or drinking. It is so annoying! Mich WHw 223, SW 217 CW 195 GW 135 1 Shanrom reacted to this
Pescador 1,374 Posted August 1, 2017 For four years I see that most people had a hiatal hernia, so I don't see it as a cause.

Missy161 395 Posted August 16, 2017 Had my 2 month post op today and asked about the hiccup. He said my diaphragm was "injured" and the hiccups are spasms. Said they will eventually become less frequent and go may go away all together. I just ate 2 pieces of bacon and had about 4 hiccups (shrieks!) in a row, so maybe certain foods trigger it. Also asked about the weird shoulder pain when I eat or drink and he said that is referred gas pain- lovely. Mich WHw 223, SW 217 CW 192 GW
