Bloating and Discomfort 5 Days Post Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Surgery was Monday 7/24. I am struggling getting Protein Shakes down within an hour and keeping up with hydration with a half an hour before and after. I just feel full.

Seem to be having late day bloating and discomfort that is limiting my ability to drink or consume anything after 4-5pm.

I have been trying to walk every two hours. Finding little relief. I also have tried 2-3 of blended greek yogurt in between shakes.

Is this just gas? When does this go away? Am I putting to much pressure on my stomach? How do you know?

I don't see my doctor until next Thursday 8/3. Any suggestions?

I am dealing with same and am told all normal. Our stomachs are healing and will be for awhile. I was told I do not need to follow the 30/30 rule when on this phase because it's all liquids. I am still having trouble getting all liquids in but my pee is clear and I do not have any signs of dehydration. I am getting about 48oz a day. My stomach gurgles and contracts with each and every sip.
Did your doc give you an anti-spasmodic to take for the stomach pressure? It helps me a lot. Also, drinking some warm broth helps and some peppermint tea helps me

Thanks for sharing. Great info. I was only given protonix for my stomach. I will try the warm broth tonight and I will see what I have for decaffeinated tea.

Fingers crossed for some relief soon.

I'm 4 days post op and having the same problem.

To make it worse, I had an allergic reaction to the pain med and had to stop it, which I feel has been making my nausea worse. My doc never prescribed me an anti-spasmodic. Will that help the spasms that come on immediately as liquid hits my stomach?

I might ask for it tomorrow.

Sorry you are feeling this way. My pain meds had to be switched right away, the liquid hydrocodone was making me flushed and hot with really red skin. The anti-spasmodic has been a lifesaver. I don't think I could drink anything without that right now. They work immediately on me and it helps to not have EVERY SIP send my stomach into spasm. I would definitely ask your doctor for it.

You are going to feel quite abnormal for about a month or more. focus on Water intake because it will regulate a lot of things. I focused on getting my water in each day and i was able to avoid taking any nausea, pain or Constipation meds.

once you get past the first month things will settle down.
