KKLive 11 Posted July 29, 2017 (edited) I'm 4 weeks after Surgery and I feel like the only thing I can eat is yogurt , sugar free Popsicle's and a 1/2 cup of smoothy with Protein Powder. Am I ever going to get to enjoy food again? I know smaller portion size is the main problem why we get overweight, but I cant even eat anything!! I'm so emotional and feel I cant get enough calories in to even feel mentally normal. Any advice ?? MFM008 44 Posted July 29, 2017 I went through the same thing plus I got an ulcer along the surgical incision. Yes you will. But some things still bother my stomach after 9 months. meats like beef. Greasy stuff. Always eat slowly. I've eaten to fast and you get dumping syndrome which is a nightmare. Eat slowly. Your doctor will guide you. Follow it carefully.Sent from my SGH-M919 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 KKLive reacted to this
Joann454 1,329 Posted July 29, 2017 I'm almost nine weeks out and love my food. You're still healing. I don't know how long it'll take but there's no reason you shouldn't be able to fully enjoy most foods down the road. Hang in there. 1 KKLive reacted to this
dmelch 30 Posted July 29, 2017 I am months out and I am still very limited as to what I can tolerate. However, being a size 8-10 is much better than a size 24 .Meals times has been a very difficult and emotional time for me I will not lie. I use to love to eat everything, now most foods taste horrible to me or I am unable to keep it down. We have to remember this is a work in progress. My entire life I have eaten when happy, sad, stressed, etc. Now I am unable to eat and have to find other ways to deal. Not easy. But loving they way I look. 2 Savagegirl and KKLive reacted to this
blondie66 271 Posted July 29, 2017 I'm 2 years post op and can eat most foods. The first few months you're healing and have to take eating solids slowly. Keep up the Protein Shakes to help you heal. 1 KKLive reacted to this
alcn1derlnd 146 Posted July 30, 2017 I'm four weeks out and I find most Beans easy to eat. Cottage cheese is easy for me also. Denser stuff has been no go for me. Avocado and hummus with soft egg works for me also. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 240.8 1 KKLive reacted to this

Savagegirl 97 Posted August 1, 2017 KKLIVE I had my surgery May 8 and I still feel that way and wonder when the "switch" will come and I can eat small portions of food where it tastes good. Everything has a sour taste, or is too sweet. Then I get a gagging type reflex off of yogurts and Protein Shakes as I can't stand one more. Today's lunch was 1/2 of refried Beans with some shredded cheese, a tablespoon of salsa, and a teaspoon of sour cream on top. I had a Protein Shake this am and that's all I've had all day. I dread thinking about the next meal as it will look good, but there is that weird taste. But I'm hanging in there and hoping to turn a corner soon! Hope you do the same. 2 KKLive and shay_148 reacted to this
KKLive 11 Posted August 1, 2017 I was able to have a little cottage cheeses with Frozen pineapple chunks today . Was pretty good. I don't have any sugar in my diet otherwise.
