I just had my surgery 2 days ago and yesterday I was able to get all of my fluids and no problem. I was walking around every hour and got sent home. Today I woke up feeling super full and bloated. Just by looking at my stomach it's very swollen which I'm sure is to be expected. But I am struggling getting my Water in today. I have been sipping on the little medicine cups but I feel like I'm going to pop. I'm also having an issue with my eyes focusing when I look at my phone or any writing on paper. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Blurred vision sounds like a side effect of your meds, have someone read the information for you. Have you been passing gas? My nurses asked that every time I saw them. This surgery involves a lot of air pumped into the abdomen so they can see what they're doing. Also, if you'd been hooked up to IV fluids for your hospital stay, that could account for some Water retention. It doesn't hurt to call your doctor. My post op instructions involve a lot of sipping, taking in fluids can actually help get things moving if you're retaining water. I'd still call just in case.

I experienced something similar. Just as Redorange stated, gas can be an issue. Walking as much as you can at home or outside will be a big help with this. What i did to stop the bloated feeling is try to lay on your stomach if its not too painful. Lastly, be careful not getting your required liquids in. I got dehydrated and I didn't even know. The start was blurred vision, and weakness. Hope you feel better!

If yu are bloated, it is most likely from the gas they pump into you during the surgery. The inflammation on your tummy will go down in about a week. Try walking more and the gas will subside quicker. Walk for at least 5-10 minutes at least four times a day. It won't last that long.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
