Me too. I did the bod pod measure of body fat and the RMR. I really want a dexa scan. I am looking for somewhere near by to get it done.

I have just transitioned to a vegan diet and I am almost 4 months post op gastric sleeve. I am always open for recipe ideas as I feel like everyday is trial and error. This thread has been great :) thank you

I think it also depends on how long they've carried it for. My mom for example, all her life. I know she's got to be stronger because of it. Me, ten years, totally irrelevant for me. But then you also have to factor whether that person did weights during obesity (which I did) or not too. There are so many angles, but for the most part, I agree.

@Berry78 thank you for posting that graph. It appears to show what I have always thought. As long as your weight falls in the normal BMI category you lower your risk for cardiovascular disease. I might decide my stretch goal will be 150 which would put me safely in the middle.

Do you have a link to the paper? You amaze me at how resourceful you are in finding information.

I finished listening to the cheese Trap by Dr. Neal Barnard and I am now listening to the revised edition of The China Study. I think once I get through with this one I will have educated myself fairly completely on the best diets for health, longevity, and disease prevention.

My diet is still a work in progress, but most of the time I am 95% compliant to WFPB.

I just finished watching Plant Pure Nation on Netflix. This is a much see documentary if you are on the fence about a WFPB diet. Just watch it 😄

update: I watched this one already. Lol just didn’t remember the name. There’s another called Vegucated that I’ll check out, maybe I haven’t seen that one too. Haha!

update again: oh shoot, I’ve seen Vegucated too!

I saw that one also. What I loved about Plant Pure Nation is the actual showing of the improvement after only 10 days on those that participated in the studies. I also appreciated seeing just how much the government is motivated by the food industry and not what is best for our health. I knew this already but seeing it in action in real time really shows that we have to do our own research.

Oh yes. I’ve heard and read countless stories of improved health from adopting a healthy Whole Foods plant based diet. Even to just as small as improved acne (which I’m sure is huge with some). Imagine how much health saved if the western world would adopt this way? The western diet has gone too far, and now it’s up to the select few doctors and scientists to go against the western media, corporations, and the government, to expose by science and testimonies that plant based is the only lifestyle diet that is long term sustainable for your health. Folks may say “oh, I can eat Keto for the rest of my life.” I’m sure they can, but at what cost to their health long term?

Why I love Dr Greger’s website...you can be educated and make the decisions on your own based on facts:

Ok, so I've been thinking about this, and I think it is the "sour" part of the dough and/or yeast that make bread good. We are tasting something other than just flour.

I picked up some kasha to try. Nice, roasted whole grain buckwheat. We'll see what happens...

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
