Thanks y'all. It was fun and delicious! Except my parents, the Proteinaholics, came. It was after all their son's bday...and I had to hear the smirky remarks like "where's the beef?" Smh. That's just disrespectful and in my own house! Well, I need to let go, forgive, and move on though. My husband and I know what we're doing and that's that. Only the ignorance (uneducated) will start a fight or say stupid things.

That is too bad. I understand that the WFPB way of eating is not something everyone wants to do, but they should just support your decision and at the very least keep their opinions to themselves.

Sometimes we just have to exercise our patience muscles.

Mine are running short, but I've got to tap in the grace that the Lord has for me to use on others. lol

I can relate!!

Some people definitely require more grace. Thank God for the extra measure that is given to us just for times such as these.

I bet the food was enjoyed by everyone!!

Based on my reading he said I believe 47g for women and 60 for men but I would have to look that up. He also provides a formula to use.

Makes sense. I used both my ideal weight and goal weight times 2/3 and then 4/5 and kept coming up with figures in the range 49g to 62g ... so your 60g for men seems about on par!

Thanks.

Now that I've learned to make different lentil dishes, I too, am enjoying them.

Yes, lentil meals are not normal in Australia but I started adding lentils to Soups and stockpots years ago. They are great value as good filler and very good nutrition.

My wife and her mother have a few dishes that are centred on lentils.

I must aim to incorporate more post-surgery.

There are so many variations of recipes to use with them. That's why I enjoy it more. If it were just one recipe that I did and didn't adventure off to try anything new, I'd probably grow sick of them.

i guess you can say that with any food, but since I went wfpb, I've been more adventurous. 😊

Today a coworker was telling me how tired he is due to stress. He's got high blood pressure, etc. I said, "hey, if you change your diet, you could help yourself a lot!" He says, "Tell me what I have to do and I'll do it." (Rubbing my hands together...yay!!) I told him to either eliminate or reduce his consumption of meats and eat salads for lunches and dinners (he doesn't have time to cook--always picking up something) and always have some fruits and veggies to snack on throughout the day. I also sent him a few videos from nutritionfacts.org regarding blood pressure and diet.

I hope he does it and sticks to it. I talk with him most days, so I'll be following up. I want to hear how much better he feels.

Man, you've really taken off with the tofu! :) I still haven't made any...and as I don't feel well, haven't made any dinner this week really. Except a kale salad with cranberries, feta, red onions, with some dressing and a few cheese tortellinis. It was delicious. If I can just get over this achy feeling, I'll be up to doing something new and hopefully the tofu! I need to find that parmesan one you did...

Was reading a Pound of Cure this morning. I've had it way before the Proteinaholic came around in my life. Funny how I can finish a larger book, but this one seems to be taking a very long time!

lol I discovered I really like tofu now that I know how to prepare it correctly.

The cheese tortellini sounds yummy 😋

Now that cooler weather is here it is casserole and Soup time. Looking forward to trying some new recipes.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
