Great! Take it slow, and don't worry about what you are NOT eating, but what you are eating.

Way to go you!!!!!

Just was there, it gets easier, but these first two days are Suckville - population You.

4 days later it gets better exponentially.

Yaaaaas! Way to go RedOrangeSunrise!

How are you feeling today?

Although it feels crappy, it also feels so good to be "on the other side", doesn't it? The anxiety was killing me before!

It does feel great to have the surgery over with. I feel really tired, nauseated, and have awful gas pains. I graduated from ice chips to small sips of Water. Tomorrow, I get to have an instant Breakfast. I'm using hot pads on my tummy and walking every time I get up to pee. Really looking forward to moving past this stage.

This sugar free instant breakfast is the best thing I've ever tasted. Taking very small sips and watching the golden girls on TV. Still on IV fluids. Still using the heating pad. I very much hope they'll let me go home today!

Why would you want to go home - Heating Pad, Golden Girls, Carnation Instant Brkfst and people bringing it to you while you lie in bed.....sounds like heaven, girl! ;)

Yess, enjoy it! I was in a rush to get out of the hospital too (i was outpatient, but they told me to stay as long as i wanted), but now i wish i could be back there. The bed is comfy, the blankets are warm, and mostly importantly, the pain meds go straight into my IV.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
