*** life at 3wks of being banned****

Recommended Posts

I was the exact same way. I was actually able to eat 5 days after surgery. Odds are you didn't blow it. You would really know if you did. I saw the doctor yesterday for my first check up ( I got banded 10/1/07) and everything was fine. I will get a fill on 11/15. Just slow down. On one hand it is good that we have no nausea or vomiting, but on the flip side because we feel fine it's harder for us to stick to the designated meal plan. Try to eat mainly oatmeal/grits or whole grain Cereal for Breakfast and fish or chicken for lunch and dinner with vegies, my doc said as long as I can tolerate it I'll be fine. Remember not to stuff yourself. Don't worry!

Read up on the symptoms of band slippage and things like that- I'm pretty sure that hasn't happened to you! :hungry:

Good Luck,

Thenume

I was just wondering if you all have a cc band or the cc band this seems to me that it could make a huge difference right off of the bat, Secondly how much Protein are you getting in I was reading that "cope" only gets in 45 grams a day I'm not a dietitian but I'm getting in close to 100 grams a day while eating only 2 meals of food each day. from my understanding the protein will keep you fuller a lot longer than most other food sources

Yeah...........

I broke the 200 mark,

When I started this journey I was between 218 & 220, Since banded I am continually dropping.

today the scale read 199!!!! I am soooo happy, I skipped right by the 200 mark. I have been trying so hard to just eat what they say and excercise every day.

I know that may go back up before my first fill, but I am just going to be patient and try my best!!!!!!!!!

My instructions say minimum of 40 grams of Protein while having liquids only, then a minimum of 60 grams when on mushies and the same when I'm back on regular food (starting Oct 31st). I spoke to someone from the dr's office who has had the band quite awhile and she said I could go as high as I want on protein grams.

IM in the same boat too. I am 11 days out and am definately hungry more often and definately trying to stay on the program - so far so good.

Based on what I have read on other posts first 4-6 weeks are rough and have been labeled 'bandster hell' for just these reasons.

I am not filled until NOV 20 - so I am hoping to hold on tight until then.

Welcome to the throes of Bandster Hell! This is that horrible in-between place. For a lucky few it will cease after your first fill, but for many of you DON'T COUNT ON IT!!!!! I didn't get knocked off the hungry wagon until my 3rd fill, which was perfected on my 4th fill. I am now at LA SWEET SPOT!!! Let me tell you, it is a wonderful place to be, and I am still losing a little less than 10 pounds a month. I am within 22 pounds of my goal. I went on vacation cross-country for a week and didn't watch ANYTHING I ate....not a THING. I ate what I could, and what I wanted...which wasn't very much! And viola...when I got home I hadn't gained an ounce, and within 5 days of being home I lost another 3 pounds! Have I died and gone to Heaven? It seems so!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
