Thank you all for your suggestions.

I feel better this morning had to take a 1 tablet of oxycodine last night and now I cannot seem to wake up today. Wow

My Husband is pretty Non Chalant when it comes to personal women problems so I did not mind having him look at it when it was at it's worse but I feel more comfortable talking to you all about it.

Thank you all for the support and suggestions I am going to get some Prunes & Fiber Cereal today and start getting it in me.

Paula when you mention Meralax for your daughter is it because she was having hard and large stools? If you do not mind me asking. We have been struggling with my 7yr old for the last year if he does not pass a bowel movement everyday or even every other day he soils his pants. I have to either give him an enema or have him eat a couple of slices of apple with Peanut Butter everyday to make him go and usually it is so big that we cannot even flush the toliet I have to put on plastic gloves and dish it out. (sorry to be so gross). Sorry to go off topic

Thank you all so much for your support and suggestions. I printed this out so I can experiment and see what will work for me of course as soon as I heal.

Jack now do they really shock you? I could not even imagine anything else in there. I about fell of the table when she stuck me with the needle.

Been there and had to do ALL of that!!!

She has had BM problems since birth! All in all I have realized that she has a problem with milk. Any more than 1 glass a day will cause her to have BM problems.

Anyway, a year ago (she was 3 at the time) we would go through the ordeal of her crying b/c it hurt her to have a BM (too large to pass), so she would hold it in. I brought her to a pedi-gastrologist and he prescribed her the Miralax. Its a powder that mixes well into any drink. No taste, dissolves quickly.... and is very effective! She doesnt even realize that its in her drink.

When I notice that she hasnt had a BM in a couple of days, I start giving her the miralax, usually she will produce something by the next day. :)

great topic, eh?

Thank you Paula & Jack

When I started to realize that he was not having accidents just to have them I started monitoring when he would have a B/M I swear there were days he would no sooner shower that by the time he got his undees on he would leak. So of course the Enema but I hated to do that to him. Did some research on the Web and came up with a name for it and he showed all the signs holding it not going when his tummy gave him the signal and of course he would be to far gone by then I cut out all milk products and again he would do the same thing so I ruled out the dairy products. We are working on it day by day and hopefully he will get better and we can find something that will help him out. I usually have to check him every day cause there are times he does not even realize that he soiled his underpants.

Mary, this is such a delicate situation especially when it deals with a child. At 7 years old (the age of your son) they start getting self conscience. And if any of his friends find this out... well, you know how cruel kids are! :)

What made me bring my 3yr old to the doctor is the fact that having to do this ritual of events just to get her to poop was not normal. My pediatrician didnt help. It wasnt until I brought her to the specialist that I realized that there are other kids out there with these kinds of problems - not just mine! Its actually commen.

You may want to inquire about the miralax, or try the advice Jack recommended with skipping all dairy products for a longer period of time.

Good luck, and know that you are NOT alone!

Thank you all for your kind replies concerning my son's problem. I have asked the Dr to give me the name of a speacialist that works with Children to address what more I can do for him.

Jack the leaking is caused when the stool is so hard and big inside him that any new feces leaks around the old thus leaking. It is called Encopresis

Paula - You are so right about how children can be cruel so far no one other than the grown ups in the family and at school know.

Leatha I did not know that about the sugar free candies - thanks

Thank you all again

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
