any November 2017 sleevers?

Recommended Posts

November 8th for me. My surgeon only requires a low carb diet that I started last Wednesday. Now that the day is getting closer, I am so incredibly nervous and overwhelmed. I know I want to do this, just so terrified of the unknown. I hope this is normal!

It's normal. I too am Nov 8th. I've had the whole roller-coaster of feelings. I'm on low carb diet until Sunday and then I'm on full liquids until surgery. Good luck with yours. I'm sure we'll both do fine.

Don't be concerned about how much weight you're losing on the preop diet. Just stick to it and it'll help you develop the habits needed for when you have your surgery. Good luck!

Thank you @ChiakiAngel! I'm just concerned that if I don't get down to a certain weight by my surgery date that I'll have a hard time getting to my overall target weight. I know better than to get hung up on numbers but I'm also just really frustrated that I'm eating so little and not seeing the scale move anymore.

I'm getting really excited, my surgery date is the 30th, but I have my last nutrition visit visit on the 8th, and my pre op visit/education class on the 20th! I just hope everything goes as planned.

Good evening I’m surprised to read that you have not completed all of your nutrition visits and you have a surgery date. I am in Illinois and my pre-op visit was 10 November but they changed it until 14 November and I do not have a surgery date. That requirements are so different .

Excited to see so many set for the 8th (I am, too!).

@rayb70 @jmbeese45 How are you doing with the liquid diet? I wish I could say I'm used to it, but I'm not! Lol. My stomach is getting rumbly, but I'm so ready for this change!

It's a tenative surgery date as of now but they work with my insurance a lot and are very confident they can get approval before then. It's taken 8 months to get where I am now so I'm hoping everything goes through. I think it just depends from office to office because they know what they can and can't do through my insurance.

I'm ok. Tired from lack of calories lol. I walked down a pier today and that was enough activity for me (granted it was also a 1.5 hour drive from where I live). Just laying low and waiting it out. Lots of chores this weekend to get everything **** and span so I don't have to worry about that for a while!

I was sleeved on 11/02. Incision pains aren’t nearly as bad as gas pains. I wasn’t able to get any liquids down yesterday but I got 33oz down tonight. It doesn’t hurt as much to drink now so I should be fine meeting my liquid goals for this week. I haven’t tried broth or Jello yet and prob won’t until another couple of days. Walking helps with the gas but can be painful because of the gas. My doctor recommends walking 3-4x a day for 30 minutes. I only got in about 45 minutes today so I’ll really need to space that out. Good luck to all of you November sleevers!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
