I have a question, I just finished my 3 months dietary visits, my trigger date is Nov 21, I’m a little nervous because I have gained weight even though Avmed will not deny me because of that, but I need to start preparing or dieting already? Should I start eating as if I had the gastric sleeve?

They should have given you a pre-op diet according to your BMI. I guess a week or two you should start. I am no expert and my surgery is November 2. My BMI is 38 and 36 on good days. So 3 days before surgery I start a diet of no sugar, no or low carbs, one Protein Drink in the morning and one in the afternoon. They higher the Protein the longer you will stay full. Then for dinner lean chicken, tuna, or turkey only. I can have all the sugar free Jello or clear broth that I want. I think it helps the surgery go better for you. May be less gas or something. If your BMI is higher than mine you probably should do a week or 2 before. Your doctor should be able to tell you. From my dieting experience I found that the good oils (olive, avocado is the best) will help you stay full. I need to ask if we can have oils. But always ask your doctor. I am just another patient that has questions too.

I'm suppose to have surgery November 6th. But worried I'm not even going to be approved. My insurance wants proof I was compliant with my band follow up and when I went to call my surgeon that did the prior surgery they were so rude and said they didn't have records from that long ago, and then put me on hold and said it takes 5-7 days! I've had two pregnancies in the span of 3 years so I didn't have work out during that time(per doctors orders) and I'm scared they will say I haven't made enough effort to loose weight with the band over the past 11 years. Has me so depressed

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
