Hello!

Welcome to the forums! This is a good place for support and advice.

I am navigating the journey to sleeve surgery. Hoping to have surgery by the end of the year. With a job/insurance change, I'm not sure what hoops I have to jump through yet. My husband was sleeved in April this year and has had no complications. He's down 70 pounds since then. Looking forward to following your journey to health!

Wishing you all the best!!

Ignatious, Linda and Harmony... I too have a Sleeve date of August 9th... seems like I have been waiting for almost a year and now I am so excited and nervous at the same time... Is that how you feel?? I have been on the Protein Shakes since Monday, so far so good. I think I am just so determined that this is my last shot to have a tool to change my life, that I am not fighting it.

Tell me how you are doing?

Doing great, nervous of course. Pre op diet is tough but looking at the light at the end of the tunnel! Watched slot of stories on YouTube which eased my mind.

that is a great idea, I haven't watched any stories or even went to the b4 and afters on here yet, I have been caught up on all the researching on what my life changes are going to be and preparing that way. I like knowing I am educating and I am committed to this new life. My nervousness is going away, excitement is growing.

So you are on an all liquid diet? I have 3 Protein Shakes and 1 lean cuisine (prepared meal). Seems a lot of doctors put patients on an all liquid diet. All the diet consists is 800 calories seems like, I don't know why an all liquid diet is necessary

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
