Tell me your Gallbladder Story...

Definitely do the surgery. I had an attack 3 weeks before my scheduled gastric sleeve surgery. Hospital thought it was a heart attack and found mine full of stones and at only 17 % function. Surgeon removed it and my bariatric surgeon used the same incisions for the proccars during my sleeve. Hurt 10 times more than the sleeve. Never, ever eat grease again!!!

I had mine out about 20 years ago; laprascopically. Terrible attacks beforehand would keep me up half the night. Surgery was not bad at all; I was up at midnight the same day making scrambled eggs. Had no issues at all with what I've eaten since. Do not miss it even a little bit!

I had my gallbladder removed 11 years ago. I've had non-alcoholic fatty liver ever since I was pregnant with my son, he just turned 14. Now I need WLS to help me try to get my liver finally healthy before I develop really bad cirrhosis. I've greatly improved my diet and health over the years, and tried many things to try my best to improve my liver health, but even with so much effort my liver hasn't been improving and I have had a lot of trouble losing much weight, that is why I'm getting WLS as soon I am allowed. I should hopefully finally receive my surgery date sometime next month. My liver specialist recommended it to help me finally get the rest of my excess weight off and get my liver health back. At this point I am finally no longer afraid of WLS, now I am much more afraid of what can happen if I don't get it.

I hurt for a couple weeks from the gallbladder surgery, but riding in a truck halfway across the country to change locations just 2 days after surgery probably didn't help that either. Greasy foods still bother me 11 years later. Luckily I can still eat spicy food though, some people can't after gallbladder removal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
