Honey roasted nuts?

Recommended Posts

I was just cleared to eat nuts. They were always my go to snack and usually I would keep a container with honey roasted nuts in the event I had a sweet tooth. Do you think these are safe to eat now? I'm 4 weeks Post Op.

Honey roasted peanuts are perfectly safe to eat, but they may or may not lead to a stall/plateau of your weight loss due to the added sugar.

A better choice would be unsalted or lightly salted dry roasted peanuts.

Blue Diamond has a nice line of flavored almonds. I like the Sriracha and smokehouse flavors. I always measure them out because I can mindlessly eat them. Lower carbs than honey roasted (which I love but don't eat now)

Good to know. I had two halves of a peanut yesterday and it was dry I couldn't get anymore down. But it was enough to get that sugar craving gone.

Sweets beget more sweets. At first, most of us are blessed with an intolerance to anything very sweet. Over time, that goes away, and sweets will taste good again. It's a good idea to really think about whether you'll WANT to get used to sweets again. And whether to start "giving in" to sugar cravings.

I don't have a problem with the carbs in the peanuts, per se.. the problem is with continuing to eat sugar in any form (except that which is naturally occurring in fruits and vegetables). Eat an apple, it's sweet. Eat a honey roasted peanut, then eat the apple.. and the apple isn't really sweet anymore.

fruit at least comes with Vitamins and fiber.. sugar is just...cocaine. And just as addictive.

The weight loss phase after surgery is relatively short. You will soon slide into the maintenance phase. It is important to maximize the weight loss during the weight loss phase. Consuming honey roasted nuts will make it difficult to reach your goals due to high sugar content.

I find almonds to be my go to or cashews. But I avoid the honey roasted stuff. Starts me down a nasty slope.
