Black Forest smoothie

Recommended Posts

This is a recipe I created based on a mocha I used to love when I lived in Oregon.

1 cup frozen cherries

2 cups milk (whatever kind you like)

1 Tbsp cocoa powder

1/2 cup coffee to taste (I like a strong coffee flavor) or 1 tsp instant coffee granules

1 tsp amaretto coffee creamer or flavoring(more if you like it sweeter)

1 scoop Protein Powder

Blend and enjoy!

By chance, do you have the nutrition table for this smoothie? Also, I'm not a fan of coffee, can that be replaced w/ something else?

Hi sorry I don't know what the nutrition facts are altogether. I added each ingredient into my app separately. It will depend on what kind of milk you use and what kind of Protein Powder. You can just leave the coffee out if you don't like it and it should still taste good

@heycrystal2052

I made a nutrition label with basic information, OP didn't really provide much to go on like the type of milk or anything else.

Depending on the ripeness of the cherries it can add more calories. I wouldn't spend my macros and calories on this, I would still be hungry. liquids do nothing for me.

It looks very delicious, but the carb and sugar count is a bit too high for me. I'm sure there is something like it, that'll fit w/in my "safe zone". Thank you so much for sharing!

I used to add like 1 strawberry to a shake. I don't see why anyone would need a cup. Also if you are going to use Protein powder, why use milk? You can just use Water. There are so many ways to cut the calories and carbs on this.

Still I don't drink my calories so it is a no from me dawg.

Dawg? Really? Jesus. Actually the calorie count is more like 350 and it's a Meal Replacement for pre or post surgery when you can't eat. Get over yourself.

I posted the recipe because I thought it was unique and tasty. Not for criticism, but thanks anyway.

Cherries are one of the healthiest things you can eat. There are about 100 calorie in an entire cup. I'll take those calories and enjoy my fruit, thank you very much

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
