Thank you Joann454 that is actually a good idea. [emoji4]
Does anyone else have advice about doctors? I contacted the Oasis but they are booked until September. Great sign the place is so busy but it would not allow me to have the procedure during the time I need. I'm growing a little desperate and stressed and hopeless so any further advice is very much appreciated.

Once you fill out the questionnaire and get approved they should send you a calendar with open surgery dates.

One friend went by herself and did fine. I have read so many stories of people going alone and end up spending time with others having surgery the same day that they never felt alone. My husband wants to go but I explained that it would be less expensive if I went alone (plane tickets, cost of food etc). I really didn't want to be worried about him being bored and knew that him going with me would cause me more stress than me going alone and only having to worry about me.

I had a friend go to Mexico. I went with her as far as San Diego (only 4 hours drive from where we live) and waited for her. They picked her and half a dozen other patients up at a huge parking lot at border. I enjoyed San Diego for three days then went back to the parking and waited for them to bring her back. It was a couple days before Christmas so the trip back took about 4 hours longer because so many people were at the border coming in to do last minute shopping. I think she went to Angeles hospital Tijuana. She said it was the best hospital experience she ever had. It was more like an experience at a nice hotel. Nurses at her beck and call. Friendly. Clean. Excellent care. And she came back with a whole variety of Protein Drinks and Pedialyte. We were required to stay in San Diego two nights after they brought her back so that if there was any problems they could pick her up and bring her back to the hospital. This was for lap band surgery in 2010 and she paid 4,500 USD. Hers was one year after I paid 18,000 USD To have mine done in California as an out patient with half the care she received! I was so jealous that she paid so much less and got better care!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
