Where was this support meeting located? I wonder if we can contact the administrator of that facility and see about getting a room for the bandsters too. I would love to have a support group here but don't know of a location we could have it.

It was at the Medical Mall in the gym. I went with a friend whom got banded by a Huntsville doc. It was actually set by her doc group...she and i where the only one's there with the band out of about 30 people. I felt out of place.

With this growing...how hard can it be to get a group going. Why aren't the doc's or nutritionist behind this? You know most church's will let you use a room for this type of group. Now with that said, I was pm'd this morn by another poster whom said that her doc group is trying to set up a group in hsv. she said that she would post when she finds out more.

Yea...We are someBODY!!!!

I just attended my seminar last night. IT was by Dr. Mailapur.

He is soooo into gastric bypass. He spent maybe 5 mins on banding, and 45 on bypass.

He said he had done 800 bypass surgeries, I asked him how many bands he had done, and he said 40. He said that banding is not as effective, but he will do whatever I want him to do.

He also charges $175 for the consultation, which he doesn't turn into insurance??

He seems a great surgeon and all, but I kinda want someone who believes in my dream...:confused2:

I understand your feelings! I went to his seminar in August and got the exact same vibe... well it wasn't a vibe.. it's what he said! So, I felt it was best to seek another surgeon. I was afraid that if I chose him, I would hear "if you had went with the bypass"... the rest of my visits. Maybe that's not true but I wanted someone who had all it took to support my decision. I chose to drive to Bham... but of course gas wasn't so high when I started this journey haha. Fucundus' office wasn't doing seminars when I started this and that was something needed... so I could get a feel for them before paying that consult fee... which is normal by the way.

I hope you the best. Keep us updated on who you choose.

I am sooo glad you wrote this. I was feeling so excited about my new change, and after his seminar I felt deflated. I am going to go with a different doctor. I deserve it!

I don't. Something tells me Dr. Scruggs don't do it anymore?? I'm not sure about that but there was one doctor in Decatur that stopped.

One that I wish I had checked into is Dr's Britt & Grove. They are out of Guntersville / Albertville but also come to Madison to do the surgery. I can't remember which one of them.. but one of them has the lap band himself. I work with his BIL and although I am happy with the surgeon I chose, I wish I had looked into their practice bc it would have been closer to drive to Madison than Bham.

7_5_142.gifDr. Groves has the band. He is my Dr. Him and Dr. Britt are really great Dr.s Love them to death! Good luck on finding a new surgen. I think from what I have heard in the past the Dr. Fuducuss(sp) likes bypass better. I could be mistaken tho.

My insurance covers Dr Facundus, Dr. Foreman, and Dr. Cuggs. Do you girls know anything about any of these Docs?

Sunny;

you do deserve this surgery. I am not a girl nor do I know about the doctors you mentiond, but I use Dr. Britt. I really believe in him and his staff. They have worked with me and been very supportive to me. I think you should check them out.

I have BCBS of Alabama and my insurance paid to use Dr. Britt/Dr. Groves. They do have surgery rights at Madison Outpatient Center in Madison, Crestwood in Huntsville, Marshall Medical Center North in Guntersville, and Marshall Medical Center South in Albertville or Boaz. I went to Marshall North and had a very good experience. I hope you will give them a look. They are the best.

Dr Foreman did my surg July 2 and I love it. He was so nice and the Hospital was good. I had to stay all night. I was so sick from the meds

they put me to sleep with. I alway do that after surg. They wouldn't let me stay in pain they was bring the pain med to me and hold me hand when I was so sick. I was better the next day and came home.

I like Dr Foreman

Best Wishes to you, Mackie:teeth_smile:

Dr. Foreman is who I chose! I have my consult on Monday. I am so excited.

I'm glad I didn't go with Mailapur, I feel much better about this.

My BMI is 39, is it a big deal it's not 40?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
