Hi I am very new at this, I have replied to posts, but don't seem to get an reply's.

I was banded Oct 4th, 2007. I was only Jello, broth and protien shakes for 1 week, I went nuts on that. Now my second week I am what they call the "mushies", I mostly eat pureed cream Soups, puddings, yogurts and v8 juice, next week can have eggs, cottage cheese, oatmeal and a few other things. I am ok, now but the first week by day 6 I couldn't eat a thing because if I even took one more bite of Jello I would have lost it.

I am pretty sure the reason for the liquid diet is to make sure we heal properly and so the band will not slip or shift. I would be afraid to eat anything other what they say, but never ground beef, that is wierd!!

Janet:)

I was banded on 10.10.07 and am able to eat jelly (I chew it till it is liquid) and pureed apple as well as clear Soup and Water. I am seeing a dietician on wednesday so I will find out a bit more about what I can eat and when as the information from my surgeon and from a booklet he gave me is pretty different. Good luck to everyone.

I never had to stop eating before surgery. Liquids for one week, soft foods for 2. I think it's funny how they are pushing us to eat Protein and telling us to eat soft foods at the same time???

I have the book Weight loss surgery for dummies and they reccomend Clear Liquids for as little as one day to a month after surgery. My surgeon said one day. Full liquids from day one until day 8. Purees from day 8-14. Soft foods day 14- first fill. My fill appointment is 6 weeks from surgery then it's back to liquids again.

It IS very confusing that surgeons differ so much. But A month out of surgery we should all be able to eat anything. I had a scrambled egg for Breakfast and guacamole for lunch yesterday Yummo!

For every doctor there seems to be a different diet plan. It is almost like they draw the diet plan from a hat and say, "here you go."

I had to drink Water for 24 hours after surgery and nothing else.

Then I got the Jello, broth, Protein delight (Yuck) for 4 days.

Then I get to add pudding, yogurt, milk, and strained cream Soup for 10 days. I have 4 days left.

Then I get to go to the mushies for 14 days before I move to solids for two weeks and then I get my first fill.

All my portions have been regulated...1/4 here...1/2 here. Has anyone else had their portions regulated or is it up to you?

Carrot, are you suppose to be getting some Protein in there? I know your having some problems but I think that's the one constant with all our doctors was getting Protein.

I got the unflavored and mix it in everything b/c I am not losing my hair!

My docs said 60g of protein per day.

Did I mention this Thursday is Mashed Potatoe Day Folks? Bill Cosby can have his J E L L O!:hungry:

Sorry Amy missed your ?. ...oh yeah I'm regulated.

I was given a 60 page book with breakdowns for my Clear liquids, soft liquids, and soft food stages. 450 calories first 14 days, 500 next 14, 8oz this, 6oz that. Thursday I can do certain foods for the first stage of soft foods but not others until the next 7 days. November 3rd I go to foods.

I haven't been able to get 8oz in without issues. I tried again yesterday and got very dizzy and sick to my stomach. The idea of throwing up scares me back to 6oz. Doctor said that was fine.

Carrot you just do whatever feels comfortable for now. You may get hungry later, and you will be needing the Protein like crazy. You will know when that happens. Just listen to your body. That is what I am doing.

Hi all!

I went to my 2 week check up yesterday. I am down 24 pounds since before the surgery. My doctor said to eat solid foods ONLY now. And he siad that I must not drink one half hour before and one hour after eating, because it will enable me to eat too much..washing it down, he said.

It is really nice to be able to eat some real food. The first night, I felt like I was totally normal, and ate a good sized meal, with no problem. It was a good sized meal given what I was used to....liquids and mushy...but compared to what I would have normally eaten...before the band, it was about 1/3 of a meal. Still, it sort of worried me, that I could eat that much.

But this morning, I was only able to eat a piece of bacon, and two pites of a pancake. Same this everning, at dinner. About five small pites, and I feel full. I feel really good though, like I'm learning what to each, and how to eat it.

I really feel like 24 pounds is a good start, and I'm optimistic. :clap2:

I'm too scared to try real food. Rabid that's amazing ground meat. My book says to not even try red meat for 3 months after surgery. Its really interesting how each clinic has their own rules.

I'd love to have something of substance but I figured they know what they are doing and for once in my life I'm going to listen. I've been fat for 10 years so 14 days of Soup and pudding and stupid Jello isn't going kill me. Might drive me a bit bonkers but.....

This is great.....gotta tell someone why not you all. My grandmother calls last evening, keeps asking me how much I want to lose, how much did I weigh. (Note to self call mother and ask how she found out). To which I reply to everyone when I get these questions, Same as I always weighed none of your business but thanks for asking!

Well dear old grannie goes on to say well pumpkin (yes pumpkin all the other grandaughters are princess but I'm pumpkin, working on that in therapy lol) you were getting really kinda of CHUNKY! THANKS NANA!!!! :phanvan

Dont you just love family!!!!

Have you tried to put Slim Fast in the freezer for about an hour to get it slushy? That gives slimfast a little life.

I had some potato soup on day 6 and it didn't go down well, I forgot to chew up a tiny chunk, it hung and it came back up.

I am on day 10 now and really want some food, I have 4 more days to go.

I kind of cheated too. I had tuna fish but with an extra scoop of mayo. I pulverized it in my Magic Bullet. I was like a think tuna shake.

Although my doc's nurse said "yuck", and I think my doc turned a bit green, it was acceptable. AND so I got my Protein and a taste for something different plus some much needed texture.

(I was craving tuna fish like mad because my son made himself some, and when he drained it, he did not wash out the sink. The smell was everywhere.)

Canned chicken is a little harder to liquify, but it's possible. I have purchased a stick blender and have opted to make my own mayo (the store bought is high in calories and devoid of any nutrients). And the recipe I found is pretty good, plus it' contains a bit of Protein too, with 'good for you' extra virgin olive oil.

I have since put some chunky Soups in a blender, meat based, and it tastes great. As long as one of the first 4-ingredients of what I'm eating isn't a sugar word, it's OK by my group.

OK, all this hasn't passed my nutritionist yet, but I feel that as long as my doc says I'm not doing any band harm, I'm OK, and she'll get on board with me, hopefully... (I'll know Thursday).

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
