Finally cut out coffee creamer!

Recommended Posts

I was logging my food and realized a larger amount of my calories came from coffee creamer than I realized. I've now switched to adding Atkins mocha latte shake to my coffee. Its not bad but pricey since I need half the shake.

Does anyone else have any good suggestions/proteins/recipes? I love starting my day with some coffee but dont want all the calories

Were you using a coffee creamer of half and half? I use half and half, 40 calories 3x a day isn't a big deal.

I use full-fat half & half in my coffee...

If you're into flavoring, there's Torani sugar-free syrups. They come in flavors such as caramel, raspberry, etc, and can be used in coffee, tea, yogurt, and so forth.

Dear Lord - I love those Torani flavors and they ship fast. I use them for so many things. I make an iced coffee frappucino some mornings with cold brew coffee, Sugar Free Chocolate and caramel syrups, a scoop of Protein Powder and ice. There you have it - 26 grams of Protein and about 110 calories. I use them in my shakes, in coffee drinks, everything.

Think about coconut milk - I prefer the taste to that of almond or soy and it's 45 calories in a cup.

I drink my coffee black for the most part. Good luck finding a combo that works right for your tastebuds!

I just went and ordered the caramel, chocolate, and pumpkin spice! Thanks for the recommendation.

I've tried using half and half...it's ok if I'm visiting someone for a weekend but not daily.

Oh that's a good idea! I've seen them at World Market but never tried them. maybe I'll add some milk to make it creamy and get a little Protein. Thanks!

I found this chocolate coffee creamer that is sugar free and low in carbs & cals. Let me see what the name is and I will let you know. I had my first cup of coffee this morning with just the powdered Creamer and not one spoon of sugar and it almost tasted like a dark chocolate piece of coffee lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
