When did you start working out after surgery?

I know, I know, everyone is different, listen to your body, listen to your doctor, let your body heal.... blah blah blah. I'm just wanting to know when YOU all started working out again. Treadmill, exercise bike, and then more active/ strength stuff.

I started walking day after surgery. Usually mall walking but tomorrow I'll head back to the treadmill at the gym. I believe my surgeon said no weights for 6 weeks.

The second day I was home from the hospital I got on the treadmill. Not much to start but I slowly built up. Good luck!

I didn't resume exercise until 3 months post-op.

I started with a simple walk/jog routine. 2 years later I maintain my weight of 118 pounds on 2000+ calories a day by running 20+ miles weekly, weightlifting with free weights (dumbbells and barbells) 3 times a week, and other aerobic exercises (stationary bike, elliptical machine, stair mill, cross country hiking, etc).

I'm 4 weeks post-op tomorrow and walk about a mile a day. My surgeon says to stay at this until about 6 weeks out, when I can add in weights and other exercises.

Thanks y'all. My doctor told me to avoid get lying out in this heat right now, since I will dehydrate quickly. So I've been trying to use my exercise bike more, but it is painful for me. (That stupid big incision) lol. But I can't wait until I can work out more, even if it is inside .

I waited 6 weeks (seems to be universal advice) before lifting anything. Prior to that stage I would walk places, but only short distances. About 2 months post I hit the weights again. Gradually increasing the rate of work. Now around 8 months post I can work harder than I have before. It's so much easier to do so with the weight I've lost so far.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
