How much did/could you "eati during whole liquids phase?

Recommended Posts

I am whole liquids phase since yesterday, and have found myself able to eat 3 oz of cottage cheese at a time. My Dr. told me at discharge that my pouch was approximately 3 oz, so I guess this makes sense. However, I was told before the surgery that it is usually only 2 oz and my diet instructions indicate eating 2 oz of cottage cheese at a time and I started out with that but don't feel satiated without the extra ounce. Is it because this is still the liquids phase or am I overeating, or is this really the size of my pouch?

I don't know exactly how much I can eat in oz but I have been able to eat half a cup of cream of Soups and 10 min later have 2 tbsp of pudding. I don't know if I am overdoing it be cause I feel I am eating about a tbsp every 30 min and every 4~5 a meal.

At night I slow down though. I had my surgery on the 17th of July. So less than a week ago

I never ate food during the liquids stage because it was the liquids stage. I only had liquids. 3 Protein Shakes a day plus broth.

2 ounces is what they suggest because your nerves are not reconnected and by the time you think you are full, you have already over ate. I wouldn't eat more than 2 ounces at a time until week 3 or 4, but everyone is different.

There are 2 liquid stages in my diet, clear liquid and full liquid, I am in the full liquid stage and can have pureed foods with no lumps. The one exception is that I am allowed to eat cottage cheese without pureeing it first

I can get down about that much of cottage cheese too. Cottage cheese seems to be the easiest for me to eat. I get no pain from it. Ricotta cheese hurts. Puréed refried Beans hurt. Tofu hurts. Everything hurts. Haha.

There are 2 in mine also. I stated what I did.

Just because things are allowed doesn't mean that everyone eats them. I was allowed oatmeal but I never had it because I do not like it. I do not like yogurt or cottage cheese so I don't eat them. Same thing with crackers and toast, they are on my list I never had them.

I just stuck with liquids because I didn't like the pressure from more solid foods. It is a pretty short time period. I was more interested in healing well than eating food.

Up to week three I was able to eat about 1/4 cup of Soup. Took me about an hour to get down a priemer shake.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
