KamalSalem 4 Posted July 22, 2017 My wife is having her surgery on Monday and she is terrified of scars, problem is, she has a darker Hispanic complexion and yes, her body loves to scar.Has anybody with the same skin tone done this? Any recommendations?Sent from my SM-C9000 using BariatricPal mobile app
Berry78 4,261 Posted July 22, 2017 Her own history of scarring will tell you more than anyone else's experiences. If she weren't already scheduled so soon, I would tell you to go with Dr. Illan in Mexico (he was my surgeon), as he has a technique where he only goes in through one incision through the bellybutton. Of course, there are BMI requirements in order for him to do so, so it's possible she wouldn't qualify anyway. You can always speak with a dermatologist once the skin is healed over, and they may have ideas for minimizing the scars (laser treatments, Vitamin E, keeping them out of the sun or tanning beds.. etc.) Ultimately, a few little scars are nothing compared to the aesthetic and health improvements made possible with surgery. 1 KamalSalem reacted to this

Well Mexico is out of the question since we're from the middle east, but I will speak with the surgeon about going into the belly buttonSent from my SM-C9000 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Berry78 reacted to this
