Nauseous all of a sudden, any ideas why?

Recommended Posts

Ok fellow lapbanders, I need some help! I am 6 weeks post op and got my first fill just over a week ago. For the last few days I feel terribly nauseous and don't know why. I do have restriction, it is very tight in the morning and gets looser as the day goes on. I feel nauseous when I am hungry so I eat and still feel nauseous. I do have a little bit of a cold, not sure if that is making things worse but up until the last few days I had no nauseousness at all. Since my fill I have gotten a few things stuck just because I was rushing and didn't chew good enough. Not sure if this maybe irritated things inside. What do you guys think....any suggestions? I called the doctors office and they want me to come in tomorrow possibly for a slight unfill. I really don't want to get unfilled if I don't have to but this just sucks.....what do you guys think?

I've had a cold for the past 2 weeks and have been super nauseous, but my ears are seriously blocked up and I think that screws up your equillibrium (sp), which may make you nauseous. It could just be coincidental that you had a fill at the same time that a cold was coming on...

Just after my fill, I was getting nauseous. I think it is your stomach adjusting to your fill, mine went away about 2 week after the fill. Maybe because you are sick, your will hang on a little longer? I don't know this for sure, this is just what I experienced. Hope it helps.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
