I use to sleep on my stomach but now try not to because my port area is sore if I do so. I mentioned this to the Dr to get his opinion as to whether or not I was doing any damage and all he said was to try and stay off of it. Well I would if I could control what Im doing in my sleep. This is a new Dr because for reasons the Dr who did my surgery is no longer with the practice, so his response upsetted me a little because I know the other Dr would have have taken my concerns a little more serious.

I started sleeping on my stomach 2 weeks after my surgery. I haven't had any problems at all. Trust me, you will sleep on your back with a few pillows behind your head after your surgery. I didn't think I would be able to either but it really wasn't a problem. I think about a week after surgery I ended up on my side and then on my tummy.

I am only 6 days post-op, and I too can't wait to sleep in a different position. My back is killing me!! I usually sleep on my side, but that is not happening right now. I hope I can return to my normal sleep position soon so I can get some rest. I'm so very tired.

Results may vary, but I was sleeping on my side in 2 days and on my stomach within another couple of days. Having a pillow to support me from the front side, while sleeping on my side helped a lot.

I had the worst time sleeping for about a week after my surgery. I am a stomach sleeper primarily and it was very difficult to sleep on my back, I even tried laying on my side but it was too painful at first. I would say that it was at least two weeks until I could sleep comfortably on my side and even longer until I could lay on my belly. I am a month post-surgery and have no trouble sleeping on my stomach at all anymore! My port doesn't hurt either. I think you'll do fine if you can stand being a little uncomfortable for a little while.

Oh, I should mention I have a Tempurpedic bed, so that may help a lot, as it conforms to my body and is pretty darn comfortable, surgery or not.

Hi, just wanted to encourage you a bit. I had my surgery on Oct. 2....on the third day after surgery was the first day I could sleep on my stomache. Today is the 10 and it doesn't bother me at all....to sleep on either side or stomache. My port is on the right side. I too am unable to sleep withoug sleeping my my tummy. I hope you are able to as well

Take care

Me too. I am a stomach sleeper and for the first few days was grumpy because I couldn't manage to get comfortable. Now...it's not a problem.

I'm a stomach sleep also. My doctor said that there was absolutely no restrictions to how I should sleep or behave physically. I just had to progress at my own rate depending on pain.

You'll do fine. After the pains go away you'll be back to sleeping however you want. :Banane30:

I'm 9 months post-op and still can't sleep on my stomach or even my left side. The port area is constantly tender. After 9 months, I doubt it will get better. But the discomfort of the port is much better than the discomfort of being fat.

:notagreeJust after my surgery, a few days or so, I could lay on my side, more of like a 45 degree angle. I would prop a pillow up under my back and have a pillow on my front side. Its not as comfy as truely being on your side, but I remember it felt so much better getting up off my back. Then progressivly I was able to get rid of the front pillow and then the back one. I am 4 months out now and have no troubles sleeping on my belly now! Good luck, you'll discover what helps you feel most comfortable! Plus, the first couple of nights I took the pain meds and was out like a light no matter which position I was in!:notagree

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
