I am out 4 months of surgery I've lost about 45 to 50 pounds I still find it hard to leave the ice cream alone and sometimes chocolate I know in my hart that I shouldn't have it but in my head I say I've had the surgery and I shouldn't crave any of this but I still do. it's like it calls to me don't know if anyone else has this trouble with things that they love and crave. That its like it call to me and then I Break down and have it and then get mad at myself for it but then I say to myself I will do better tomorrow and try again the next day to do better I do try to get in some exercise by walking walking fast about three times a week if I can if it's not raining out or too hot out and try to go to the gym every now and then but I know that doesn't justify it I just wish I didn't have the Cravens does anybody know a solution for getting rid of the cravings

Yup. Stop eating it.

The more you eat, the more you crave. You stop having it, you stop missing it.

Studies show abstinence works better than moderation in the long run.

Also, have you heard of Halo Top? It's a very low calorie, high Protein ice cream. Kind of spendy, but its a good substitute.

CONGRATS on the weight loss! What about freezing low fat yogurt? What's you favorite flavor? The whole point of surgery is to help with Portion Control and healthier choices. Try low fat ice cream/fro-yo or Sugar Free Chocolate pudding for the cravings. I stopped craving chocolate milk since I started the nasty Protein Shakes. My surgery is in 2 days.

I'm having the same problem, my cravings are so bad and even though I'm only a month post op I've already been cheating which really bothers me. I truly wish you the best of luck in your journey

I don't really consider it cheating if I have a really small scoop of carb smart ice cream and then stop at that. You will need to decide if you can handle just something small like that. It really depends if you have an eating disorder (binge, addiction) or not. I got sugar free popsicles and eat them daily.
I also got some sugar free candies and limit myself to 2 a day because the sugar alcohol can cause stomach discomfort.
I had to completely cut off any kind of regular candy - chocolate was my nemesis. I won't eat that again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
