I paid $250 to my Dr for a consultation and paperwork

The rest was $0. I had already met my out of pocket expenses for the year.

Ok....hospital gross bill was over $200k! My insurance negotiated rate was just over 60k. My share is just under 3k.
That doesn't include the surgeon or anesthesia.
I went in at 5am on Friday and was discharged Saturday around 2pm.
Then there were all the other pre op steps.

Mine was out of the ordinary, since I spent 4 days in the hospital due to complications caused by underlying conditions.
My hospital bill was just over $67,000.00.
My surgeon's bill was $14,000.00.
So, just over $81,000.00.
My portion was $850.00 and change with insurance, split about evenly between the hospital and surgeon before my surgery date.
I have a $1,000.00 annual deductable that I met when I paid the $850.00.

=^..^=

$8899 in Florida cash pay. $500 for hotel rooms for 5 nights. 2 prescriptions paid for by insurance (one has otc equivalent, one I didn't need) under $10.

Preop testing, $70, paid by insurance. Psycheval would have been $150 otherwise. (or waived).

Gas money $100.

My total bill including: Pre-op visit fees, surgery center fee, anesthesiologist fee, bariatric surgeon fee, post-op visit fees, and post-op medications was a total of $12,000.

That also includes all expenses for one year post-surgery and lifetime nutrition and exercise counseling.

Not too bad of a deal if you are a cash pay patient.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
