After losing over 80 lbs in 7 months, I'm having gallbladder attacks. They're mini attacks now, but I know I have stones. I have had ultrasounds before to prove that one. My question is twofold:

1. how is the recovery?

2. How is the weight loss afterward? Does it change anything?

Thank you!!

During my pre-op testing for my sleeve surgery they found huge gall stones in my gall bladder. So the surgeon removed it and did a hernia repair at the same time as my sleeve. It would have only been a matter of time for me to have a gall bladder attack although I had none prior. I have known a few people to have it out at the same time... So I can't tell you the difference in recovery but I can tell you I had absolutely no problems with recovery from the "triple" surgery. I think it progressed as well as a sleeve gastrectomy alone. I am sorry you have to undergo another surgery, it is not uncommon after weight loss surgery, I know many people who have it within a year or so after the sleeve. Good luck

I had my gallbladder out about 3 months after my sleeve. Overall, I felt the recovery was easier than after the sleeve but I did have problems with nausea that lingered for about a month afterwards. I hadn't had nausea (beyond the first week) with my sleeve so it wasn't pleasant but my doctor prescribed Zofran which really helped.

I entered a stall shortly after my gallbladder surgery and gained/lost the same 3 pounds for about a month. I hadn't had a big stall since shortly after my sleeve though so I might have just been due for one and it was just a coincidence it happened right after the gallbladder surgery.

Best of luck! Gallbladder pain sucks. You'll feel so much better once it's out!

I had my gallbladder out a long time ago. It was also laproscopic, an overnight stay in the hospital and about a week's recovery at home before going back to work. The usual lifting limitations for a few weeks. I don't remember much pain, since they don't cut the diaphragm.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
