Frankw19 2 Posted July 18, 2017 My DS surgery was finally approved by insurance and is scheduled for 8/24/2017. Anyone have any feedback on when they felt good enough to return to work following the DS? 1 Lexington1020 reacted to this
Lexington1020 73 Posted July 18, 2017 I had my surgery on June 28th was scheduled back on July 5th....but I had already told them if I did not feel well enough I would be back on the 10th. Thank goodness I did...those few more days saved me. My biggest issue was lack of sleep. I was sleeping on my back and it was not good. I finally was able to go sleep on my side by the 7th- and I used a pillow to help lift my belly. I wish I had purchased a binder prior to surgery so that may help you. Good luck! 1 Frankw19 reacted to this
Frankw19 2 Posted July 19, 2017 I have to return to work 7 days post surgery; is that absurd, or possible?

It's definitely possible or depends on whether or not you're in pain, and the type of work you're doing (standing/bending etc). I had my surgery in 2012 and it was a couple of days before Thanksgiving, and I went Black Friday shopping for a few must have items. The key was I prepared myself with a half a pain pill, my liquids etc. without bending or lifting. I didn't have a lot of pain after the third day; I had a sleeve. Check with your doctor and maybe see about doing a half day the first day or two. Good luck 1 Frankw19 reacted to this
Frankw19 2 Posted July 19, 2017 Thank you so much. It will be mostly office type work, with minimal bending or lifting.
Lexington1020 73 Posted July 19, 2017 Quote I have to return to work 7 days post surgery; is that absurd, or possible? Is this business days or do you work weekends? I was trying to figure out dates for you.... I think if you get that binder and just walk a ton after surgery you should be fine! (I sit at a desk also and I think that binder would have helped me immensely) 1 Frankw19 reacted to this

Strivingforbetter 247 Posted July 24, 2017 It was about 6 days out that I finally felt good enough to go into the office, but I was only there a short time. I needed at least two weeks to have the energy to work, but you might heal quicker. I had the DS and never used a binder. I had very little pain and slept on my side just fine. Everyone is different. 1 Frankw19 reacted to this
