I have been out of the hospital for only 2 full days so I am not expecting perfection now, but I find it very painful to stay in a seated position for more than a couple of minutes, mainly at my large inscission. When will this change. I really would like to know for 15 min, an hour, and indefinitely. I know everyone is different so I am just asking for your results.

I found when sitting with a pillow for support over incisions helps. I am 17 days post op and it still bothers me a bit to sit straight upright.

I agree that a pillow really helped me behind my back. I also used one across my abdomen whenever I was sitting and sleeping. I am still holding one on my abdomen when I sleep. I am sitting up more when I sleep against a backrest and a pillow and the use of the pillow justs seems more comfy right now. It will get better each day. And before you kmow it, you won't even think about it.

Im 7 days post op today and everyday that went by i felt a little more better. Earlier in the week it was sore in my main incision when i sat straight up but yesterday it barely bothered me and today not at all. So i will say this. You will definitely not feel like that forever. Tomorrow will be better and so on. You got this.[emoji38]

Use a pillow under you, behind you, or just hold one on top of your belly. You would be surprised how much it helps! You can even try to sleep on your side better with a pillow under. Don't worry, it won't be that lomg!

I haven't had my bypass yet but I had my gallbladder removed last year, similar incisions, and it felt okay to sleep on the incisions and go back to work on the second week mark

It took me a week and a few days to not be in pain anymore. Took me six days to stand straight again.

It all depends on how you heal. It could be sooner, could take as long as I did or it could be longer.

Like everyone else was saying a pillow helps. When I needed extra relief I used a heating pad or took my pain meds that I was given.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
