I had the gastric sleeve done almost 6 weeks ago!! I'm already down 30 pounds but seem to find myself at a stall. My daughter has a rare form of epilepsy and was hospitalized for 10 days and I was doing ok on my diet. But the stress of it all was getting to me and I have been making myself sick because of it. I use to turn to food for comfort. What's a good way to turn away from food I stressful times??

Stalls are so common in this journey. As far as your what-to-do question, you have to find that grit, drive, and perseverance inside of you to do what you need to do to be successful. That's why the mental battle is the most difficult part of this journey.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear the bad news. Hang in there! I'm dealing with the same issues as you, other than a sickness in the family (knock on wood).

Our new bodies restrict us from dealing with stress with food (as you, and I, have found out!) Still, that doesn't mean we won't still try our old go to method. The big struggle is going to be finding other things to blow off steam, that don't involve food. I have other things, but they almost always are accompanied by food.

As my Mom reminded me on the phone last night, we are deprogramming ourselves of years and years of habits, it's not going to happen overnight!

I wish you, and me, the best of luck. Hang in there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
